Connection information

When you open the site, our hosting provider receives your request, including your public IP address, as every website must. We use the request to show your IP version and any approximate city, region, country, or time-zone information the hosting platform supplies.

The application does not save a lookup history or send your IP to a separate IP-information service. Hosting infrastructure may retain operational logs under its own security and retention practices.

Network owner and ASN information on the homepage come from our local DB-IP Lite database. Reading that database does not send your address to DB-IP.

IP lookup

Addresses you submit on the IP Lookup page are sent to our server and checked against a local copy of DB-IP Lite. We do not send the searched address to DB-IP or save a lookup history in the application. Submitted addresses are not included in page URLs or custom analytics events. Hosting infrastructure may retain operational logs. When a result includes coordinates, its map loads from OpenStreetMap as described below.

DNS tools

DNS, hostname and reverse-DNS lookups send the entered domain or the reverse-query name for the entered public IP from our server to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS-over-HTTPS resolver. The resolver receives that query and our server's connection information, rather than a direct request from your browser. Cloudflare's public DNS resolver privacy policy applies.

Lookup inputs and results are not placed in page URLs or custom analytics events. The application does not save a DNS lookup history. Hosting and resolver infrastructure may retain operational data under their own policies.

Local calculations and reports

IP classification, subnet and CIDR calculations, IPv6 formatting and the router WAN comparison run in your browser. Their entered values are not submitted to our server. The optional current-public-IP buttons make a normal request to our server to detect the address used for that request.

Before-and-after comparison results remain in the open page's memory. Diagnostic downloads are generated on your device after you preview them, with connection-detail redaction selected initially. Unredacted reports contain the values shown in their preview. We do not upload the generated reports or send their content to analytics.

Location map

The map uses approximate coordinates supplied by our hosting provider for your connection, or DB-IP Lite for a searched address, not your device’s GPS. When approximate coordinates are available, the map loads automatically from OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap then receives your IP address, browser request information and the approximate area being viewed. Its privacy policy applies. We do not send map coordinates to analytics.

Analytics

Google Analytics loads automatically when a page is viewed. Google receives standard connection information, including your IP, and may derive an approximate location. Google Signals and advertising personalisation signals are disabled. Our custom analytics events use general action names and never include the IP address, approximate location, or copied diagnostic content shown to you.

Analytics data is used to understand aggregate visits, page use and button use so the site can be improved. You can block or remove analytics cookies through your browser settings.

Links to VPN plans in our VPN guide record a general provider-click event with the provider name, guide placement, and free or paid plan category. The event does not include a searched IP address or the destination URL. The provider receives your browser request when you follow its link, and its own privacy policy applies.

Advertising

Advertising is currently disabled. The site does not load advertising or advertising-consent technology. If enabled, Google AdSense and its consent platform will receive standard browser request information, and this notice will show the active advertising details and available privacy controls.

Your controls

You can block or remove analytics cookies through your browser settings. Copy buttons act only after you select them and place the visible text on your device's clipboard.
