Compare in three steps

  1. Record your starting IP. Use the connection you want to compare against. Only disconnect a VPN if it is appropriate for your privacy needs.
  2. Make your change. Connect the VPN and wait for its connected state, or switch to another network.
  3. Select Check again. Keep this page open: the button requests a fresh result without reloading the page.

Your saved starting address stays in this page's memory. It is not sent back with the second check, added to the URL or included in analytics events. Reloading or leaving the page clears the comparison. Every fresh check still makes an ordinary request to our server, which sees the public address used for that request. See our privacy notice.

What can this comparison tell you?

A different address with the same IP version confirms that this website saw a different address on the later request. An unchanged result deserves a closer look at your routing and VPN settings; it does not, on its own, diagnose a fault.

If one result uses IPv4 and the other IPv6, they are different address families. You cannot directly compare them to establish whether an existing IPv4 or IPv6 route changed. Read why IP versions can differ.

Is this a VPN leak test?

This tool compares two web requests. It does not test DNS, WebRTC, a kill switch, both address families independently, or traffic from other apps. A change does not guarantee anonymity. Follow our VPN IP troubleshooting guide for the next checks.

Unexpected changes without a VPN? See why public IPs change. If your router reports another address, read the WAN IP and CGNAT guide.
